Waltham Forest violin group receive BBC grant
The 'Strung Out' collective have said that the £6,500 funding will go towards helping to develop a project that aims to "express" what it is like to live in the east of London through the medium of music, Guardian Series reports.
Members have said that the project will be in conjunction with a number of other community groups and professional musicians to create a song that will truly show the way of living within this area.
'Express Symphony' will be performed in front of audiences throughout 2013, taking in a number of high profile festivals through the region.
Jenny Barker, of Strung Out, told the source: "The support from the BBC Performing Arts Fund will really boost our confidence and violin skills. Being given the opportunity to be involved with composing a piece of music and working alongside professional musicians is incredible."
The BBC Performing Arts Fund was originally set up in 2003 and aims to support aspiring individuals and community groups and during its lifespan has already donated £4 million to worthy causes.
