Warren Haynes praises guitar skills of Billy Gibbons and Albert King
Warren Haynes has praised the guitar-playing abilities of fellow musicians Billy Gibbons and Albert King.
Speaking to the Burlington Free Press, Haynes said he was recently honoured to be named as the 23rd greatest guitarist ever by Rolling Stone magazine in a run down of the 100 best players of the musical instrument.
But he added that his own list would have included both Gibbons and King, two jazz guitarists who Haynes said were conspicuous by their absence.
"I understand it wasn't meant for a jazz audience, but there's a lot of great jazz-guitar players that came before that are better than any of us after," the musician explained.
The Rolling Stone list named Jimi Hendrix as the best electric guitar player of all time, with Duane Allman in second position.
There were also places in the top ten for the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Keith Richards.
