Wayne Rooney given sneak peek of Stereophonics album
The Welsh rockers will release their seventh LP, entitled Keep Calm and Carry On, in November.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Jones revealed that he gave a promo copy of the album to the Manchester United striker ahead of his team's recent clash with Tottenham.
"Within about 15 minutes of me driving away he was texting me his favourite songs," he commented.
"He was into it."
Manchester United won the Premier League game against Spurs 3-1, courtesy of Rooney, Anderson and Ryan Giggs.
Jones described Rooney's goal as "belting" and credited the music with inspiring his strong performance on the pitch.
The guitar player added that despite the band's success over the last 12 years, he is still nervous about putting out a new album.
He said this is partly because established groups have to come out with the best song they have ever done in order to compete with younger acts.Posted on 22 Sep 2009 15:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
