'We never want music to break from period' say Mad Men
The 1960s-themed show has now removed a piece of music it was set to include and inserted a more period-appropriate piece, according to its boss.
The Look of Love by Dusty Springfield has been switched for another track.
It turned out that the Springfield piece was actually made public in 1967, a good half a year after the period Mad Men was evoking, according to some who had seen the episode in advance.
The new piece will be played as the programme's credits roll.
Via a media missive, the programme's boss, Matthew Weiner – who previously worked on The Sopranos – announced the switch: "As someone who has a deep appreciation for details, I want to thank you for bringing this to our attention," he said.
He also commented: "Although we take license for artistic purposes with the end-title music, we never want the source music to break from the time period we are trying to recreate."
