Willie Nelson: Leon Russell was first to sign my famous guitar
Country music star Willie Nelson has revealed the identity of the musician who was first to sign his famous acoustic guitar, which goes by the name of Trigger.
Speaking to New York Magazine, Nelson said that fellow guitar player Leon Russell was the first to put his name on to the instrument.
"I asked him to sign my guitar because he asked me to sign his," he said. "I've had hundreds of signatures since then."
Nelson said he has no plans to replace his acoustic guitar, despite it showing considerable signs of wear and tear including a hole in its body.
The musician said he has had it reinforced a couple of times on the inside but still has to be careful with transporting it around as the instrument is pretty fragile.
Nelson is set to conduct a tour of Europe later this year, with planned appearances including shows in Manchester, Edinburgh and London.Posted on 5 May 2010 18:45 to category : Instruments News
