Woman returns to UK to encourage locals to part with their music instruments for charity
A British women now living and working in Uganda has returned to her hometown of Chepstow in Wales to ask locals to donate music instruments for a good cause.
Michelle Moffatt works for a charity called Music Life Skills and Destitution Alleviation (M-Lisada), which engages street children in, amongst other things, music education, reported the Free Press.
Back in the UK for a month, the mother of three will be doing her best to get as many local people to give up their music instruments for charity.
She told the newspaper that although Uganda was a poor country and challenging at times, it was developing all the time and was proving to be a good experience for her family.
Speaking about charity, she said: "The charity is unique as it helps the children to learn valuable life skills as well as teaching them music so they can perform at events and make money.
"Its aim is to turn street children into professional musicians."
The charity was set up in 1996 by former street children. Today it supports up to 150 children, orphans and vulnerable children on a daily basis, of which 80 have permanent residence in the charity's purpose-built home.
