Woodstock artists praised for originality
The musicians who performed at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 have been commended by the filmmaker who recorded the entire occasion.
Indeed, it was there that Jimi Hendrix brandished a Fender Stratocaster to deliver a highly charged version of The Star Spangled Banner - creating sounds on his electric guitar designed to evoke feelings about the ongoing Vietnam War.
Speaking 40 years after the event, Wadleigh said the music played by many of the artists on the bill has endured throughout the decades.
"You're looking at phenomenally interesting music that has stood the test of time," he commented.
