World's largest playable tuba returns to Germany
The brass instrument will be on display once again at Musikmesse, in Frankfurt, and people from all over the country and some from even farther afield are set to flock to the event to see the tuba in action, MI Pro reports.
However, that is not all, as this tuba is not just abnormally large, but it is also a key part in setting a world record.
Last year, professor Jorg Wachsmuth, a solo tuba player in the Dresden Philharmonic, recorded the fastest ever performance of the Flight of the Bumble Bee played on the world's largest brass instrument.
While the speed of the track is a challenge in itself while playing the tuba, his achievement was greater as the player needs to be tall enough to reach the valves, while also having the capacity to ensure air flows through 50 metres of tubing until a sound is produced.
Musikmesse takes place in Frankfurt between the April 10th and 13th.
