Wyclef Jean defends his charity over 'dodgy payments'
He was speaking out after claims emerge that the foundation had only used £3.28 million of the £10.9 million it has raised to help people devastated by the Haitian earthquake was spent.
The one-time Haiti presidential candidate, who was looking to bring a hip hop sensibility to government office, said the claims were "misleading, deceptive and incomplete".
The New York Post suggested that last year, the charity pumped £227,715 worth of money into a construction company that is run by his brother-in-law, Warnel Pierre.
Furthermore, the news provider also claimed that £643,294 was directed into a company by the name of Amisphere Farm Labor, which apparently doesn't exist.
Wyclef was recently honoured in Miami, Florida, as the star was inducted into the city's Hall of Fame.
"Just received the key to the city and inducted in the hall of fame thank you North Miami. Thanking the city of North Miami for the love," he tweeted.
