Yamaha has announced details of its next Motif synthesizer.

The XF is to be released in October 2010 with a similar price to current Motif XS models and is aiming to build on the success of its predecessor, reports MI-Pro.

"After the original Motif music production synthesizer was released in 2001, it was recognised as one of the best sounding music workstations on the market and went on to become a top seller," the website explained.

The Motif XF is to come with piano, acoustic instruments and vintage synths, as well as more than 1,600 voices and 97 drum kits.

Last month, Yamaha issued firmware updates for both the Motif XS and the Motif Rack XS via its dedicated synth website.

The company explained that the updates are intended to iron out a couple of minor bugs and help users to ensure that they are getting the most out of their systems.
