Yamaha is to mark the release of a new CD showcasing young British jazz musicians with a special gig in London.

The musical instrument manufacturer has given its backing to The Yamaha New Jazz Sessions 2009 CD, which will be given away free with Jazzwise Magazine.

It features some of the rising stars of the UK jazz scene, including drummer Gethin Jones, guitarist Alex Munk and trumpet players Mark Perry and Sam Wooster.

Those four, together with piano player Kit Downes and drummer Daoud Merchant, will perform at the 606 Jazz Club in London on December 2nd 2009 to celebrate the launch of the CD.

All six have received backing from Yamaha as part of a music industry scheme to develop more jazz talent in the UK.

Yamaha instruments are also used by a number of more established jazz performers, including Jamie Cullum and Liane Carroll, as well as by pop acts like La Roux and Paolo Nutini.
