Yamaha unveils Childline project
Musical instrument manufacturer Yamaha has teamed up with Childline for a new initiative designed to raise money for charity and introduce more people to playing music.
The company's Pro Music Division and Yamaha Music Schools are both involved in the scheme, which will include a First Lesson Free campaign aimed at encouraging beginners to take up an instrument.
An official launch will take place on June 1st at the 2009 Childline Rocks concert at the IndigO2. Performing at the gig are hard rock legends Thunder and Uriah Heap.
Organisers are hoping to build on the success of last year's event, where Thunder, Roger Daltrey, Marillion and Lulu all helped to raise £100,000 for Childline.
Ricci Hodgson, spokesperson for Yamaha, claimed the whole partnership "has the potential to raise significant cash for the charity whilst simultaneously offering music making opportunities to the huge audience of classic rock lovers who have a desire to extend their passion for music into playing".
Yamaha is not the only major brand to join up with a charity this week. MI Pro reported that Korg UK is working with Music For All in an effort to get more primary school children to play music.Posted on 15 May 2009 13:34 to category : Music News
