Year-On-Year Vinyl Sales Improve By 100 Percent
Amazon say that the sales of vinyl from their music store has improved 100% year-on-year and is likely to continue due to the recent launch of their AutoRip service.
The three top-selling vinyls since Amazon opened its UK music store in 1999 include Daft Punk's Random Access Memories (also the top selling so far in 2013), Adele's 21 and Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. Other best-selling artists on Amazon include David Bowie, Radiohead and Pink Floyd.
"It's great to see so many people rediscovering a format that holds such an important place in music history," said Amazon's Vice President of European Consumer Business. "Vinyl has traditionally been the music enthusiast's format of choice."
Highly-anticipated releases from Daft Punk and David Bowie make up the top two places in 2013's best-sellers list and Iron Maiden have done well in Amazon's vinyl revival so far this year, taking up 5 places in 2013's top 20:
