Youngsters get all musical at Abroath festival
Youngsters from schools around the area and further afield have come together at Webster's Theatre in the Scottish town to kick off the event which has a programme that spans over six days culminating in a special concert on the Saturday (March 9th), The Courier reports.
This year represents the 81st anniversary in which the festival has taken place in Arbroath but it is the first time that performances have been spread over the entire week and organisers have promised that this will be bigger than ever.
Sheena Guthrie, chairperson of the festival's executive committee, told the news provider: “We are glad that the festival is proving to be so popular and that it has grown so much. Things have gone very well today and we had a great standard and level of playing, as always."
The Arbroath and District Musical Festival showcases pre-school, primary, secondary school and adult choirs in competition.
There is also a section for young musicians with orchestras taking part in the week long celebration.
