The Gypsy Dream is built using spruce for the top-wood, a mahogany neck, mahogany back and sides, and Walnut fingerboard. The Gypsy Dream delivers warmth, a bright attack, and a thick well defined tone perfect for many playing styles. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant. It contains distinct character of a soft warmth, but is well-balanced with a bite of its own.
The parlour shape was originally designed to be small and comfortable enough to play sat in an arm chair or on a front porch. Today, the parlour shape covers a wide spectrum of guitars, from traditional western styles to electro-acoustic one-of-a-kind boutique builds. The name refers to old reception function rooms, they have now been labelled parlour because of the types of venues they would originally be played in. Parlour guitars are smaller than concert shaped guitars but have an elongated body, that provides an increase in volume without increasing the size of the instrument completely. Because of their smaller bodies, parlour guitars tend to have tones that emphasize the midi section. The parlour shape ensures a comfortable playing experience, especially for smaller framed people.
The mahogany neck is topped with a Walnut fingerboard, and delivers a warm, bright, and sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques. The neck is specially designed by Luna to provide a comfortable playing experience, ensuring that challenging notes and chords are within easy reach. The reason why many guitar necks are made from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The Gypsy Dream has a natural satin finish, and an exclusive, beautiful, butterfly marker situated on the 12th fret, offering stunning aesthetics.
The Gypsy Dream features Luna's on-board tuner, the tuner provides quick-and-easy tuning in any environment, whether it may be a quick tune-up in-between songs on stage, or even at home when your strings go slightly out of tune. The Luna on-board tuner features a discreet sidemount on the upper bout, offering an easy location for quick-and-easy tuning.
A beautifully designed, well-crafted instrument originally created to captivate and engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent. The graphic design features laser etched butterflies providing a lovely, freedom-like, nature themed vibe, signature to all the Luna guitar family. Situated on the 12th fret is a delicate butterfly, inlaid with mother of pearl, with a matching crescent moon Luna logo on the head-stock. The Gypsy Dream features the inspirational statement 'Arise, be all you dream', these words apply to both music and life itself, providing the perfect mantra for any budding musician.
Yvonne Villiers is an accomplished stained-glass artist who envisioned Luna guitars. Her inspiration for a line of guitars designed to maximise playing comfort came from her mother, Hilda Villiers, a bassist for over 40 years.
Whilst watching her mum on stage, Yvonne couldn't help but notice the massive struggle her mum had whilst playing. With her mum being petite and using such a heavy instrument, she used to complain of how hard it was to be a woman and try to play these big bass guitars. Yvonne then questioned if there were others like her mum that struggled with the same problems and pains. She came up with the idea of a woman specific guitar, uniquely tailored to fit their bodies, their hands, and their musical styles.
Yvonne moved on to created Luna guitars, a line of guitars made for female musicians of all ages and crafted with luminous visual beauty to engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent. Yvonne already had brilliant artistic skills and use of colour, she then applied the same techniques as she did with her award winning stained glass work to her new line of guitars. She is known for using rich colours that shimmer and shine with every movement providing an eye-catching design along with the great musical tones Luna guitars deliver.
Yvonne's design expertise has led so many men to respond to Luna's well-crafted, spirit-engaging instruments that the company now creates guitars for both female and male musicians of all ages. The name 'Luna' comes from Yvonne's beautifully unique opinion of the world, she explains how the moon has a cool, yet guiding light, and that she envisioned Luna embodying the same healing and enchanting essence as the moon has.
