Key Features
A delay unit with a difference. The Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms Cascading Delay Network provides four voltage controllable delay units with user-defined signal routing. These can be combined in a number of ways to create unique time-based effects.
Each of the delay lines is capable of up to 600ms delays, which can be extended with minimal signal fidelity loss. These are then placed in one of five cascade modes which provide the user with a huge range of delay potential. All four delay lines can be combined into a single delay, function as standalone delay lines and just about every combination in between. When linked, the delays offer a unified feedback path with audio inserts and tap outs on all combined channels.
Each delay line features an array of controls for manipulating the delay time and number of repeats. Utilise two sliders, input level control, wet/dry mix knobs per channel and independent CV input attenuverters to take full control of the audio signal.

The Lifeforms Cascading Delay combines four voltage controllable delays with a huge range of internal analog signal routing potential. The delay time can stretch up to 600ms with a slight fidelity loss and additional high-frequency clock noise. Five distinct Cascade Modes internally reconfigure the delay lines and feedback paths with the press of a button.
The Quad Delay Network offers five separate cascade modes with different internal signal routing. The module is capable of combining all 4 delay lines into a single delay and a unified feedback path with audio inserts and tap outs on all channels. This mode can be modified to create huge reverbs, drones, and self-oscillating feedback.
Other modes can be used to combine any number of the four delay channels whilst leaving the other delays to operate with independent feedback controls. This includes pairing channels one and two independently from channels three and four. Alternatively, in cascade mode 5, the four delay channels function as standalone delay lines with independent feedback controls.
Each delay unit features a delay time slider, with the delay increasing as the slider moves up the module. Alternatively, delay time can be voltage controlled by patching into the CV input jack and adjusting the delay time CV trimmer.
The delay time CV trimmer is an attenuverter, which means the incoming signal is in off position when the trimmer is set at 12 o’clock. Turning the delay time CV trimmer to the right will increase the amount of CV passed through to the delay time, whilst turning to the left increases the amount of inverted CV passed through to the delay time.
The delay repeats slider sets the number of repeats created by the delay. When placing the repeat slider all the way down the modules will produce one repeat. Adjusting the slider up increases the number of repeats until the delay begins to self-oscillate. The Lifeforms Cascading Delays self-oscillate between approximately 55Hz to 500Hz depending on the position of the delay time slider.
A mix knob affects the balance between the dry incoming signal and the wet delayed signal, with more wet signal being applied by turning the knob to the right. In theory, setting the delay mix knob at 12 o’clock creates an even mix of the wet and dry signals although this is affected by a variety of external factors.
