Beijing brothers enjoy cash with invented instruments
They have apparently even popped up to show off their skills - and their yams – in talent competitions.
That's because the musicians' chosen medium for moulding their creations is vegetables – and they can actually produce a rendition of New Year's Eve favourite Auld Lang Syne by playing on their homemade instruments.
One of their special instruments is an ocarina carved out of a sweet potato.
An electronic tuning device comes in handy for the Beijing brothers, in order to make sure their vegetables are playing the correct notes. Their names are Nan Weiping and Nan Weidong.
The forty-somethings were turned onto music and instruments by their musical father and now enjoy big cash in exchange for their work, which includes playing Chinese musical favourites.
Nothing but the likes of yams and carrots go into their music makers. They have been involved in the activity for two years.
The men reside in a flat, which doubles as their workshop.
