Creation Records founder to sell music memorabilia
Alan McGee, who founded Creation Records nearly 30 years ago in 1983, has decided to free himself of some wonderful items that he has gathered over the years, which music aficionados will be looking to snap up with glee.
Some of the gems include a Dirty Pretty Things gold disc, which was gifted to McGee by Carl Barat, Pete Doherty’s former best mate; a whole load of Oasis itineraries; a hardback copy of Robert Tressell’s The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, signed by Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Mo Mowlan; and a number of backstage passes.
One of the highlights of the auction is set to be John Squire’s Jesus and Mary oil and wax painting, which is set to sell for anything between £12,000 and £16,000.
McGee bought the painting back in 2007 for £17,000 and though it won’t sell for that much, it has still held its value well.
The auction is to be held on November 5th at Omega house in Stockport.
