DJ Stolen teenager gets 18-months for stealing songs
An 18-year-old has been sentenced to 18-months in juvenile hall after being found guilty of stealing songs from a roster of music stars.
He had earned £13,260 from his illegal activities, which included breaking copyright laws and hacking into personal information.
This included stealing and then publishing online private photographs from Ke$ha's personal computer.
Radio 1 reported that the teenager had written a letter to Lady Gaga, which was reproduced by a German tabloid newspaper.
In it, he said: "Dear Lady Gaga, I am ashamed of what I have done. I did not think about the consequences."
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also ordered to undergo treatment for "internet addiction" as part of his sentence.
Last month a record label began a short tour around schools in the UK to educate school children about how illegal downloading affects the music industry and artists.
