Expert advises going 'back to basics' to improve electric guitar skills
Going back to basics, rather than struggling on with complicated techniques, could be the key to becoming a better electric guitar player, it has been suggested.
Writing for the website Helium.com, music expert James Vigh explains that there could be a number of reasons why a guitarist is struggling to get past a certain standard.
This could be down to poor basic technique, meaning that going back and learning the essentials such as scales, even though it may seem unnecessary, could actually be the key to making the step up to the next level.
Additionally, Vigh notes that too many people get stuck in a rut by failing to learn new techniques and styles, with this stunting their development.
As such, he advises students to get out and watch and learn from other electric guitar players, adding that even the biggest musical legends aren't afraid of learning new tricks or even stealing a lick or two from their peers.
This comes as a new book fictionalising the life of Manic Street Preachers guitarist Richey Edwards has been launched to a mixed reception.
