John Lennon 'would be involved in music if he was still alive'
Beatles legend John Lennon would still be trying to create new and exciting forms of music if he was still alive today.
This is the opinion of the star's widow Yoko Ono, who told NME she thinks Lennon would have moved away from the more traditional band set-up of guitars and drums and would instead be looking to new technology and music software.
She said whatever type of sound he would have managed to come up with would have undoubtedly been something very special that his many followers would have enjoyed.
Ono was speaking to the magazine to mark the 30th anniversary of Lennon's death, which occurred on December 8th 1980 when he was murdered by Mark Chapman outside his home in New York.
She has praised her late husband on her personal blog, stating that she is touched his memory is kept alive by so many people around the world in the year that would have marked his 70th birthday.
Events are set to take place in Liverpool and New York today to remember the singer, with fans set to hold a vigil in the English city. They are to light candles and sing some of the songs he made famous.
A charity concert called Lennon Remembered - The Nine Faces of John is also going to be held, with members of Lennon's first band The Quarrymen due to perform, reports BBC News.
Meanwhile in the US, the electric guitar player is to be honoured at a memorial garden in Central Park, opposite the apartment block where he was killed.
Ono will host her own tribute to the star in Japan, with a show entitled Dream Power John Lennon Super Live. Proceeds from the event will go towards helping schools for deprived children based in different locations across the globe.
