MGMT pray for good sound
MGMT sometimes "pray" that they sound good to their audiences.
The 'Siberian Breaks' band acknowledge the sound they hear onstage is different to that which can be heard by fans in the venues they play, and they joked that a particularly bad show in Sydney, Australia, in April sometimes leaves them hoping a higher power can help them out.
Multi-instrumentalist group member Ben Goldwasser said: "I think that's one of those things that we just don't have control over sometimes. Sometimes we can be doing our best on stage and it just doesn't sound good in the room.
"Sometimes we can be playing on stage and it sounds terrible to us, but we kind of pray it sounds OK to someone out there..anyone."
Ben - who plays in the group with Andrew VanWyngarden - also added he thinks writers who have declared the bands uncommerical second album, 'Congratulations' a flop, aren't seeing things from the band's perspective.
He told thevine.com.au: "How to signify whether our album flopped or not? We didn't expect our first album to do as well as it did. I think we're pretty happy that we made this album, which we consider to be really good.
"We're not trying to be millionaires and when people write something like that it makes me realise how stupid people can be."Posted on 15 Oct 2010 06:45 to category : Music News
