Music instruments created out of discarded objects
Music instruments have been fashioned out of discarded objects from a factory in Stoke-on-Trent by an art collective.
The once random bits of detritus from an abandoned pottery factory will now be used as fully working – albeit unusual – music instruments at an arts performance this weekend, reported the BBC.
The instruments, which include musical drain pipes, oil drums and harmonious tea pot lids have been re-imagined by Re:stoke, whose "reclaim" project is making the most out of the treasure trove of objects at the factory.
Claire Reynolds, one of the members of the group – the other two are Sarah Nadin and Paul Rogerson – told the BBC: "Our project is called reclaim because it's all about reclaiming all these disused objects from the site and making new and exciting uses for them."
The disused factory is owned by the council which is currently looking to sign up development partners to help regenerate the site.
Music instruments invented by Mohammadreza Shajarian, the internationally-renowned Iranian musician, were recently showcased at an exhibition in Tehran.
