Musical instruments sought for charity appeal

People planning to buy a new musical instrument may wish to donate their old one to a charity appeal.

People in Wales are being encouraged to donate their used musical instruments to a charity appeal.

The Hard Rock Cafe in Cardiff has joined forces with The Sparkle Appeal to collect the instruments, which are to be used at a new centre for the charity that is to open later in the year.

More than 1,000 children with disabilities will make use of the Sparkle Appeal centre when it opens, with the musical instruments intended to aid their development and care.

Jon Trigwell, appeal director at the Sparkle Appeal, told WalesOnline: "This event will be a fantastic opportunity for the public to make a real difference to the lives of many of the children who will use our new state of the art facilities in the centre."

Earlier this month, solo artist Paolo Nutini told the Daily Record that encouraging children to play musical instruments such as guitars and pianos is a good way to get them to do something useful with their time.
