New Order may record new material
The pioneering indie-dance band have reformed without bass player Peter Hook for a series of live shows across the world and singer and guitarist Bernard Sumner hopes they eventually get to record new material.
He told UK radio station Xfm: ''Not even thinking about writing and recording at the moment because our heads are really on playing live.
''It really is one day at a time - or one year at a time. Let's see. Hopefully there'll be some recorded music as well.''
Bernard added the group - which also includes Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman - are planing to play a career spanning set, and may even include tracks by Joy Division, the band which New Order were formed on the ashes of, after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis.
He added: ''It's hard to fit them all in in the amount of time we're allowed to play for. It's not too bad if its our own gig - we can put more songs in there - and we probably will put a couple of Joy Division ones in.''
New Order will play a short UK tour in April and have been confirmed to play at Exit festival, Serbia, in July. Further live dates in Australia and the US are expected to follow.Posted on 2 Feb 2012 06:00 to category : Music News
