Ringo Starr gives Ludwig drum kit to teenage cancer survivor
Beatles legend Ringo Starr has given a Ludwig drum kit to a teenage cancer survivor in Hollywood.
In an event arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Starr met up with 17-year-old Alexx Kipp, who is a keen drummer, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Kipp has played the drums since he was eight years old, performing in tandem with his father who play the guitar.
Starr explained to his young fan that learning when a piece of music sounded right came naturally to The Beatles.
"In the band I was in, we knew when we'd done the take, because it just feels good," he remarked.
"It's like golf - when you hit that ball right, you know. You feel it - you feel the connection."
The drummer is set to embark on a summer tour of Europe, starting off in Kiev on June 6th.
Further dates are planned in locations including Moscow and Warsaw, before he starts the UK leg of the gig run in London on June 17th.
This will be followed by performances in Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Bournemouth.
Starr is then returning to the continent for more shows, taking in cities such as Paris, Berlin and Vienna.
