Status Quo criticise three chords jibe
Status Quo's electric guitar players have dismissed the suggestion that they only know three chords.
The band have been tagged with the label by the press for most of their four-decade career, despite notching up more hit singles in the UK than any other group.
Speaking to the Sentinel, lead guitarist Francis Rossi admitted that the "incessant three chords thing" has damaged the band's reputation with the wider public.
However, the Fender Telecaster player stated that despite the regular criticism, "we're still here and the people who like us love us to death".
Rhythm guitarist Rick Parfitt added that contrary to popular myth, "our songs can be quite intricate".
Status Quo first made the charts with Pictures of Matchstick Men in 1968 and have since scored over 60 hit singles, including Down Down, Whatever You Want, In My Chair and Paper Plane.
