Watch the Full Version of 'Our Journey' Short Film
We've been working hard to bring you a bigger, better site, designed to make finding gear faster and easier than ever.
You've helped us to get here. Every day we draw inspiration from our customers, and we help them to inspire others with their music, it's our reason for being here. In case that sounds confusing, we got a few of our friends together and made a short film to explain...
From a child picking up their first instrument, to a student practising hard to get that difficult part right, or a band making their first professional record, Gear4music has been part of so many people's journeys.
We went back to our roots to create the video. Gear4music began life in a recording studio. Our Managing Director Andrew Wass ran 'The Submarine' recording studio in York before he set up Gear4music. During this time, he met Britpop rockers Shed Seven, one of the biggest bands to come from our hometown.
The band's guitarist, Paul Banks, later established his successful film company, Digifish, in 2007. With an impressive portfolio shooting for Leeds Festival, The Stone Roses and The Script among others, Digifish were an obvious choice to work with to create our film.
Shot in venues across Yorkshire, including the Somewhere in Yorkshire recording studio, the stage at The Barbican in York and our very own offices, the film took two 12-hour days to shoot and is a result of a huge amount of dedication from the crew, plus extra support from our friends, the local community and staff at Gear4music (some of whom feature in the film!)
Many of the props were made from scratch, including the MNE Magazine with lead male actor Aaron on the cover. The gold discs on the wall in the record company scene are the actual discs awarded to Shed Seven, and you may recognise lead singer Rick Witter playing the Record Executive!
This is your story, and we hope you enjoy it.
