A vintage voice with a vintage appearance. The J-185's remarkable sonic ability is now increased even further by Gibson's high-tech ageing process - thermally aged. This excellent ageing process enhances the J-185's tone, and projection beautifully. Gibson's thermally aged process involves slowly removing, and then reintroducing moisture into the wood, which as a result makes it stiffer and, therefore, better suited to dynamic playing. The J-185 Vintage has all the amazing sonic character of a well-loved, more mature acoustic.

Smooth Playability
Constructed from mahogany, the J-185's neck offers a quick, dynamic response. Additionally, the neck features a slim taper, which makes face-paced styles comfortable, and easy to play. The neck's slim taper also allows you to achieve string bends with ease. Its smooth playing neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that adds clarity to the J-185's sound whilst offering smooth playability. Furthermore, the fingerboard is graced with eye-catching mother of pearl parallelogram inlays, adding to its incredibly familiar, premium appearance.
Time Honoured Bracing
As with many of Gibson's acoustic range, the J-185 Vintage 2019 comes fitted with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing. This specific type of bracing structure consists of two braces forming an 'X' shape across the soundboard which not only enhances the sound and offers a well-balanced tone, but also provides a reinforced stable and durable structure. In addition, with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, the J-185's tone is enhanced beautifully, delivering superior projection and volume. Each and every hand-scalloped Gibson is hand-made. It requires much more time and effort to construct a guitar in this manner, but the results are truly sensational. Time honoured, and durable with a superior tone.
