Jupiter is a brass and woodwind instrument brand owned by Taiwanese manufacturer KHS Musical Instruments. Its roots date to 1930, when the Hsieh family established "Wan-Wu Zhu Shi Hui She" in southern Taiwan. KHS opened its first musical instrument factory in 1956, initially producing harmonicas, before introducing the Jupiter brand in 1980. Jupiter has since expanded its brass and woodwind ranges, established an R&D centre in Taiwan, and developed instruments for players of different ages and experience levels. Notable developments include ISO 9001 certification for its Taiwan factory in 2004 and the launch of its child-focused Waveline models in 2013.
Jupiter instruments are designed around durable construction, comfortable playability, and the needs of players at different stages. The range includes accessible student instruments alongside performance-focused models with more extensive adjustment and ergonomic features. The Jupiter JTR500 Trumpet, for example, has stainless-steel pistons and adjustable first- and third-valve slides, providing developing players with smooth action and a more comfortable setup. For advancing saxophonists, the Jupiter JTS1100Q Tenor Saxophone combines a Sona-Pure neck with patented adjustable palm keys.
Whether you are choosing a first instrument or moving to a more advanced model, Jupiter offers options across the brass and woodwind families with features suited to different playing requirements.
KHS Musical Instruments makes Jupiter instruments. The Taiwanese musical instrument manufacturer introduced the Jupiter brand in 1980 and produces brass and woodwind instruments for players at different levels.
Some Jupiter trumpets are made in China, while KHS also has manufacturing operations in Taiwan. KHS expanded its production to Tianjin, China, in 1995, so the country of manufacture can vary by model.
Jupiter saxophones are good-quality instruments for students, advancing players, or experienced musicians. Student models prioritise durable construction and accessible playability, while performance-focused instruments such as the 1100 Series add features including Sona-Pure necks, metal tone boosters, and adjustable palm keys.
