The Friedman Runt 50 is a compact yet powerful all-tube guitar amplifier head that delivers the signature high-gain tones the brand is known for, in a more portable and studio-friendly format. Designed by renowned amp builder Dave Friedman, the Runt 50 blends classic British-inspired voicing with modern versatility, making it suitable for everything from clean, articulate passages to aggressive rock and metal tones.
This 50-watt amp features two fully independent channels—Clean and Drive—each with its own set of controls, allowing players to easily switch between sparkling cleans and saturated overdrive. The Clean channel offers warm, full-bodied tones with plenty of headroom, while the Drive channel delivers rich harmonic content, tight low-end response, and smooth sustain. A built-in boost on the Drive channel adds extra gain and punch for solos.
The Runt 50 also includes a transparent series effects loop and a cabinet-emulated XLR output, making it ideal for direct recording or live performance without the need for miking a cabinet. Its straightforward layout, combined with premium construction and components, ensures reliability and ease of use for both studio and stage environments.
