The JB-2 Angry Drive features two legendary circuits, and is Boss’ first ever collaborative pedal. Built in conjunction with JHS pedals, who are famous for their post-production mods, the Angry Driver is equipped with a modified Boss BD-2 Gain circuit, a legendary overdrive circuit which has been in production for over 25 years, and JHS Pedals’ now famous Angry Charlie High Gain Drive.
The JB-2 Angry Drive’s dual overdrive setup provides players with an incredibly versatile pedal, offering new types of overdriven and distorted tone to enhance any performance. The pedal is designed with a wide range of tonal possibilities, from simple boost to all-out distortion with enough gain on tap to suit any playing style. While the BD-2 circuit offers a low gain tone, perfect for pushing amps into sonic bliss and delivering a light, touch sensitive gain, the Angry Charlie circuit provides a full-on high gain, plexi-like tone for times when total sonic destruction is needed. Its 3 control knobs are designed with Boss’ dual concentric pots, offering separate control over both circuits for incredible tonal adjustment.
This Boss/JHS pedal is equipped with six special modes, allowing players to run both overdrives in different configurations to suit their playing style and rig setup. The two main modes are the JHS mode which only engages the Angry Charlie circuit, and the Boss mode which only engages the BD-2 circuit. The JHS/Boss mode sets the pedal to run constantly on, allowing players to switch between the Angry Charlie and BD-2 circuits with the footswitch. Switching the pedal into B-J mode turns both circuits on and runs the BD-2 into the Angry Charlie, while the J-B mode runs the Angry Charlie Circuit into the BD-2. Parallel mode runs the BD-2 and Angry Charlie in parallel, retaining the clarity of both circuits for a beautiful overdriven tone. LEDs ensure players can easily see which setting they are in; blue for Boss, Red for JHS, and white for both circuits running together.
If its wide range of tonal possibilities isn’t enough, the engineers at Boss also included remote switching capabilities to allow external control over the pedal's functions. Attaching Boss’ latching footswitch to the pedal allows players to switch between the two circuits on the fly, or run them in series and parallel for more tonal possibilities. The pedal can also be connected to switching systems to change between the circuits automatically, allowing for seamless integration into any rig and offering an incredibly smooth performance.
