The EMG 40TWX Single Coil & Humbucker Pickup is a versatile active pickup designed for bass players who want both single-coil clarity and humbucker punch in one unit. It features two fully independent pickups inside a single housing, giving you access to a wide tonal palette with a simple push-pull switch. This makes it ideal for players who need flexibility without sacrificing tone quality.

In single-coil mode, the pickup functions as a JCSX, delivering a warm, detailed sound with ceramic and steel magnets. Switching to humbucker mode activates the CSX dual-coil for a more aggressive tone with a strong midrange presence. Both modes benefit from the X Series preamp, which adds dynamic range, improved headroom, and a more natural feel compared to standard active pickups.

The included Active Tone Control (VLPF) allows for smooth high-frequency roll-off, mimicking the behaviour of a passive tone knob. While each pickup requires its own push-pull pot for switching modes, alternate configurations using toggle switches can be used if a balance control is needed.
