The Erupter fuzz pedal is the result of Earthquaker Devices president’s love for intense fuzz and 2 years of experimentation and tweaking, delivering the ultimate classic fuzz tone with plenty of low end punch and high end bite. The pedal features a range of powerful electronics to deliver a well-rounded fuzz tone, from the 5 1/2-watt carbon composition resistors and metallized polyester film capacitors, to the Sprague/BC electrolytic capacitors and hand-matched NOS silicon transistors. The buffered input and the transformer-based pickup simulation ensures the pedal sounds good with any pickup type, allowing it to be placed anywhere in the chain without any impedance mismatch.
A unique feature of the Erupter is its single control knob, allowing quick and easy tone dialling while still producing an incredible range of fuzz tones. Its fixed output level and gain setting ensures the pedal produces the thickest fuzz possible, pushing the full frequency of the guitar every time the pedal is engaged. The bias control knob adjusts the level of voltage fed to the pedal’s NOS silicon, transistors, offering a big, round fuzz tone with a slight volume boost and a great sustain when in the centre position. Increasing the bias will add extra harmonics to the input signal, producing a stiff, complex fuzz tone with a tight response, increased volume, and a beautifully long sustain. Decreasing the bias will provide a rude, spongy fuzz sound, offering plenty of sag with a blossoming attack envelope.
