The Mode series is Ibanez’s contemporary take on a classic bass concept, designed to feel instantly comfortable while offering meaningful modern refinements. The MDM1005 keeps the familiar balance, proportions and ergonomics players expect, but updates them with improved playability, refined hardware and expanded tonal control. This makes it equally suited to traditional groove-focused roles and more technical modern playing, giving bassists a versatile platform that adapts naturally to different musical situations, genres and performance demands.
The roasted maple neck is heat-treated to improve long-term stability, durability and resistance to environmental changes. This helps the neck remain straight and reliable across varying temperatures and humidity levels, reducing the need for setup adjustments. Paired with a rosewood fretboard, the MDM1005 delivers a warm, focused midrange with a smooth attack, offering a balanced tonal character that suits fingerstyle playing, slap techniques and more aggressive approaches.
Delta S5J pickups provide a punchy, articulate sound with tight low end, defined mids and clear high-frequency detail, making them suitable for a wide range of amps, effects and recording setups. The Sonitech S preamp adds further control with a responsive three-band EQ, dual mid-range banks and a passive tone option. Combined with the Hexa Mid system and EQ bypass switch, players can quickly shape their sound for different rooms, mixes or playing styles, or return to a more organic, passive-style response.
Lightweight Aero-light machine heads reduce overall headstock weight, improving balance and helping minimise fatigue during longer rehearsals and gigs. The MR5S bridge allows adjustable string spacing for a personalised setup and improved right-hand comfort, while luminescent side dots ensure clear visibility on dark stages. A Super All Access Neck Joint improves upper-fret reach for expressive playing, and the included gig bag keeps the instrument protected during transport and regular use.
