Hand-picked pickups
When it comes down to it, the choice of pickups can make or break a guitar's design. Nikki Stringfield loaded her signature A-6 model with everything she needs to complete her onstage sound. The high-output, Schecter USA NS-1 in the bridge position is a metalhead's dream, offering searing, aggressive distorted sounds without any loss of the guitar's naturally full-bodied tone.
The real masterstroke was adding a Sustainiac in the neck position. This marvel of modern pickup making starts life as a sweet-sounding neck humbucker, perfect for twinkling cleans and low-profile chords. However, engage the Sustainiac switch, mounted on the guitar's front, and magnetic witchcraft within the pickup vibrates your string much like an e-bow, allowing literally endless sustain, and heroic, centre-stage feedback.
But that's not all! A second switch allows you to switch between the fundamental note you just played, its higher harmonics, or a mixture of both, for the ultimate fine-tuned feedback sound. Seriously, you can Run to the Hills and back, and your notes will still be playing.
Floyd of Icarus
An updated classic. The Floyd Rose 1500 series tremolo bridge included in the Stringfield A-6 FR represent the best of both worlds. It's an updated version of the FR 1000 model, including several upgrades which provide peak vibrato arm action, without the expense of the top-tier FR Original series.
Many of the 1000's nickel moving parts have been replaced with hardwearing steel versions, for a long-lasting tremolo system that will tune and intonate smoothly for years to come. And speaking of smooth, the 1500 series features retooled knife edges, providing an extra-slick, extra-accurate trem experience, and a fantastic range of motion. So whether it's wailing bends or deep divebombs you're after, the A-6's Floyd Rose 1500 has you covered.
The best of both worlds
A neck for all occasions. While the Schecter Nikki Strignfield A-6 has been specifically crafted with fleet-fingered virtuoso playing in mind, its ebony fretboard's compound radius ensures comfortable chords lower down the neck too. So, what is a compound radius fingerboard? Every fingerboard is slightly humped down its centre, with flatter surfaces being ideal for shredding, and rounder ones more suited to barre chords and rhythm playing.
The A-6's compound radius, in essence, means you get two for the price of one. At the nut end of the neck, the fingerboard has a tight, 12" radius, meaning it fits perfectly in your hand as you tear through riff after riff. Up at the neck joint, the radius is a much flatter 16", which is perfect for intricate sweep-picking, pinpoint-accurate tapping, and crystal-clear, soulful bends. Every base covered.
