The FIL1 Convulsion Generator bares resemblance to the famed TR808 kick drum circuit. The bridged-T resonator circuit produces decaying sinusoids when pulses are sent to the input of the FIL1. The resulting sound is reminiscent of the ‘pinging’ of a resonant filter. Thanks to the way the resonator has being tuned however, the sinusoids are produced at frequencies below the audible range. This means you can use the Convulsion Generator to output sinusoidal CV sources to create bass-heavy kick drums.
The FILI1 features three separate outputs, one positive, one negative and bipolar. This means the Convulsion Generator is capable of providing several CV sources from one input. These can be used to create various tones to contribute to your weighty kick drum sound, or for other modulation purposes. Used alongside your existing LFOs, the FIL1 will produce sinusoidal patterns which can be modified by tweaking the R1 and R2 controls.
