Key Features
The Noise Engineering Lacrima Versio is a versatile, stereo autowah module for Eurorack format. A take on the classic autowah, the Lacrima Versio offers a huge range of functionality and flexibility to give it a contemporary twist. Offering an envelope filter that is patched into a resonant multimode filter with morphing options as well as integrated modulation and customizable saturation circuit, Lacrima Versio lives up to the Etymology of Versatile Tears.
Covering all the sounds of your typical wah-wah pedal, Lacrima Versio is built around an envelope follower that controls a high-resonance filter that can be morphed between low-pass, band-pass and high-pass slopes to achieve sonic perfection. Although it can achieve the sounds of traditional electric guitar pedals, this is not your typical wah-wah, with an adjustable distortion that can be set pre, post or pre+post, you can achieve a huge amount of crunch and saturation to your sound. Channel in your inner rock God and drive the integrated saturation modulation up to blend in an octave signal to fatten up your sound, just as if you were standing in front of a stack of amplifiers.
As part of the Versio range, a simple USB connection allows you to update the module to a variety of firmware. Open-source support is available, too, which allows you to write your own firmware. The Lacrima Versio has an almost neverending amount of possibilities and can truly change the way you create and manipulate music. This exciting module will allow you to explore your creativity to the fullest and expand your existing Eurorack setup to create harmonic rich and destructive sounds.

What was originally an idea for the 'Distortion of the Month', the Lacrima Versio took on a life of its own. In fitting with this idea, what would a Noise Engineering Wah module be without their signature distortion and saturated tones? Thankfully, the Lacrima Versio has you covered. A saturation circuit is included to add an extra layer of grit, harmonics and aggression to your wah, reminiscent of the sounds you'd expect to hear coming back through a full stack of guitar amplifiers!
In true modular format, the Lacrima Versio gives you complete control over your saturation to customise your tone to any situation. A three-stage switch lets you control where the saturation stage is placed in your signal chain with the options of Pre, Bet and Aft. Pre puts your saturation at the input stage, meaning anything after the input is going through the saturation stage, this can result in some fat and thick wah tones as the full range of your signal is distorted. Next, Bet allows you to put your saturation between the first and second filters in the circuit, delivering a more chaotic and unpredictable distortion that reacts to the movement of the filter. Lastly, Aft is your typical post control, putting the saturation after the filters to create a more precise distortion.
The aptly named Lacrima Versio delivers on the title of Versatile Tears by offering a unique and flexible wah-wah sound in a compact Eurorack module. For avid sound designers, Lacrima Versio presents an exciting opportunity to explore more 'vocal' and expressive tones that wouldn't traditionally come in modular Eurorack format. Not simply limited to modular synthesis, with Lacrima Versio you can run your electric guitar signal through to create traditional sounds heard since the late '60s with an experimental and exciting twist that take your sound to another dimension that simply isn't possible with traditional electric guitar equipment. Ideal for vocal melodies, Lacrima Versio lets you cry your eyes out to show the emotion you've always wanted to in your music.
Not only is Lacrima Versio a unique wah-wah with integrated modulation and distortion, but it’s also a stereo DSP platform. A simple USB connection allows you to update to a variety of firmware. Open-source support is available too, which allows you to write your own firmware. This truly creates a limitless possibility for your module, allowing you to explore any sounds that aren't yet available through hardware modules.
Integrate the Lacrima Versio to your existing setup and unlock your creative potential. Use the DSP firmware platform to experiment with how the Lacrima Versio interacts with your existing modules to create truly expressive sounds and continue your music creation journey.
