VC-LFO

The Analogue Systems RS-380 offers a wide range of uses, one of them being a VC-LFO. It features a two range frequency knob allowing you to switch between the high and low frequency band. The RS-380 controls its upper range frequencies when switched to the high position and produces frequencies from 5Hz to 1500Hz. When switched to the low range frequencies between 0.3Hz to 6Hz can be produced. The RS-380 VC-LFO offers a very low minimum frequency that allows you to create modulations and effects, and its max frequency lies in the middle range, the VC-LFO can therefore be used in 3 ways. Firstly as a low frequency modulator, secondly as an audio frequency modulator and thirdly as a secondary sound source making the RS-380 an extremely flexible unit.

Noise Generator

The second feature on the RS-380 is the noise generator which essentially produces white noise, handy when wanting to add some air to a sound source.

Random Generator (Sample & Hold)

Incorporated into the RS-380 random generator is a highly stable sample & hold circuit that will sustain a constant voltage almost indefinitely. The random generator is an ideal way to produce varying patterns of pitch and timbre. Due to the internal pre-patching the random generator derives its source from the RS-380's noise generator when there is no signal present, so no cable is needed to make this connection. Alternatively the SRC IN input can be used to connect to outside sources such as CD's microphones or other musical instruments as well. The RS-380 generates two different waveforms for the LFO, a triangle wave and a square wave which can be shifted using the switch to get the desired result

Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA)

The final section of the RS-380 is the VCA section allowing you to control the amount of amplification or attenuation by applying a voltage to the CV input. A convenient tool allowing the ability to develop sounds over time.
