Slate FG-2A Compressor

The Slate FG-2A Compressor is a software emulation of a classic 2A-style Opto compressor/limiter. Painstakingly modelled, this particular recreation took over a year of analysing and emulating every peak, curve and sonic nuance to create a plug-in version of unrivalled accuracy. Known for its simplistic design, smooth and vintage sound, the FG-2A harnesses all the warmth and tone you'd expect from a hardware original. Best placed on a vocal or bass track, the FG-2A compressor helps make consistent, punchy and smooth tones in seconds.

All original hardware controls have been modelled in FG-2A, including the main Peak Reduction and Gain controls, Limiter and Compressor switch and of course the sidechain detector screw. With the sidechain detection circuit, you can tailor the frequency response that the plug-in listens to by introducing high-pass sidechain filtering. Perfect for bass-heavy instruments or entire mixes, this allows you to get more aggressive upper mid and treble compression characteristics at higher compression values. In addition to the original set of controls, Slate FG-2A includes a mix knob for parallel mixing of wet and dry signals.
