Crafted for the player
Designed with the player in mind, LA guitars prioritise minimal weight and excellent ergonomics. As such, the body of the instrument is crafted from lightweight paulownia, allowing you to play for hours without strain and ensuring you always feel your best during practice sessions.
The classic double cutaway design and contoured body shape offer easy access to the entire fretboard and the body's in-built strap buttons make it easy to attach a strap (sold separately), enabling you to jam in whatever position feels most comfortable for you.
Special Edition styling
This Special Edition LA takes the familiar double-cutaway design in a darker direction. Its matte black body is joined by a satin black neck, black nut, black controls and matching black hardware for a coordinated look across the guitar.
Against that blacked-out finish, the three-ply tortoiseshell scratchplate adds a warm contrast and gives this edition its own visual identity. It's a simple combination that sets the Special Edition apart while retaining the familiar shape and practical layout of the LA.
Reliable hardware
The vintage six-screw bridge features a tremolo, letting you introduce pitch movement into chords, riffs and lead parts. You can use it for subtle variations or more noticeable effects, adding another expressive option to your playing.
At the headstock, six sealed die-cast tuners provide straightforward tuning, while the bolt-on maple neck and 22 medium-jumbo nickel silver frets complete the playing setup. The guitar also includes a gig bag, picks, strap and cable, giving you a useful set of accessories for getting started.
Versatile HSS pickups and controls
This Special Edition swaps the regular LA's three single-coil setup for an HSS configuration, combining a bridge humbucker with middle and neck single-coils. The humbucker provides a fuller, punchier option at the bridge, while the two single-coils give you contrasting sounds to explore. A five-way selector makes switching between pickup combinations quick and straightforward.
Explainer: pickups capture the vibrations of your guitar strings and turn them into an electrical signal that can be sent to an amplifier.
This combination gives you plenty of scope for experimenting with different sounds as your playing develops. One volume and one tone control keep sound shaping simple, letting you adjust your overall output and brightness without an overly complicated control layout.
