Legendary analog sound made practical
The ARP 2600 has earned its place as one of the most recognisable synthesizers ever produced. Its sound has shaped records, film scores, television productions, and electronic music for decades. Korg developed the ARP 2600 M to bring that same sonic character into a format that better suits contemporary studios and creative spaces.
Measuring approximately 60% of the original size, the ARP 2600 M is easier to position on a desk, integrate into larger setups, and transport between locations. Despite its smaller dimensions, the instrument retains the same analo circuitry and components used in the larger ARP 2600 FS. This approach preserves the distinctive tonal qualities that made the original so influential while making the instrument more accessible for everyday use.
Extensive sound design tools at your fingertips
The ARP 2600 M offers far more than standard subtractive synthesis. Alongside its oscillators, filter, amplifier, and envelope generators, it includes a wide collection of processing and modulation tools that encourage deeper experimentation. This makes it suitable for creating traditional synth sounds, evolving textures, unusual effects, and complex modulation patches.
Available tools include ring modulation, sample-and-hold, lag processing, voltage processors, signal inversion, noise generation, an auxiliary mixer, an envelope follower, and an audio preamp. These features allow you to process external signals, generate intricate control voltages, and build sophisticated patches without relying on additional equipment.
The inclusion of a spring reverb adds spaciousness directly within the instrument, while the semi-modular architecture provides the flexibility associated with modular synthesis while maintaining a straightforward workflow. For musicians who enjoy exploring sound beyond presets, the ARP 2600 M offers a remarkably deep creative platform.
Built for modern studios and hybrid setups
Although inspired by a vintage design, the ARP 2600 M includes several enhancements that simplify integration with current production environments. USB-A and USB-B ports allow direct connection to compatible MIDI controllers, while DIN MIDI connectivity supports integration with a broad range of hardware instruments and sequencers.
MIDI functionality extends beyond note control, allowing pitch bend, modulation, and portamento switching through MIDI control messages. Korg has also updated the trigger voltage requirements, making the instrument easier to use alongside Eurorack modules, Volcas, and other modern hardware. The smaller format further supports integration into hybrid systems by reducing the space required for patching and performance. These additions allow musicians to combine classic analog synthesis with contemporary workflows while maintaining the hands-on nature that has always been central to the ARP 2600 experience.
Refined features for everyday creativity
The ARP 2600 M includes several thoughtful updates that improve usability while respecting the original instrument's design. One of the most notable additions is the inclusion of two filter types derived from different versions of the historic ARP 2600. This gives you access to distinct tonal characteristics and broadens the instrument's sonic range.
Korg has also refined the slider response for smoother operation and improved the attack and release behaviour of the envelopes for more responsive sound shaping. Built-in monitor speakers make it easy to audition patches without connecting external speakers, while automatic speaker muting when headphones are connected keeps monitoring simple and convenient.
Stereo outputs provide straightforward integration with modern recording systems, and the redesigned spring reverb has been carefully adapted to suit the smaller chassis while retaining its lush character. Together, these refinements make the ARP 2600 M a capable instrument for both focused production work and spontaneous creative exploration.
