Make more informed acoustic adjustments
For accurate calibration, you first need an accurate measurement. The ECM8000-U uses a 6 mm electret capsule with a 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency response, which covers the audible range needed for analysing speakers and acoustic spaces. Deviation stays below 2 dB across this range, so you get a consistent reference for identifying frequency-response issues and making informed EQ corrections. This precision is handy whether checking a studio room, setting up a home theatre, or working on a car audio system. This lets you measure what your system is actually doing and adjust it accordingly.
Capture the room from every direction
The ECM8000-U features a true omnidirectional pickup pattern, allowing sound capturing from all directions. This is well suited to acoustic measurement where assessing overall response at a listening or measurement position instead of one source is necessary. Use it for room calibration, monitor alignment, and live PA tuning, with the linear response helping measurement software build an accurate picture of your setup. This gives you necessary information for spotting problem areas and making targeted changes without introducing a directional pickup pattern into the measurement process.
Connect directly over USB
With the ECM8000-U, there’s no need to build an additional analogue signal chain. Its direct USB connection lets you connect the microphone to a computer without a separate audio interface or phantom power supply. This allows for less components for a setup involving measurement runs, reaching the calibration stage sooner. Just connect the microphone, launch your measurement software, and begin testing. This workflow is especially useful when you need to move between different spaces or systems, such as studio rooms, live venues, home theatres, and car audio installation.
Works with popular measurement software
The ECM8000-U slots into computer-based acoustic measurement workflows and is designed for use with applications including REW, FuzzMeasure, Smaart, and Dirac Live. This gives you plenty of scope for different calibration jobs, whether you’re correcting room EQ, aligning studio monitors, or tuning a live PA system. Its USB connection keeps the hardware side simple, while the calibrated, linear capsule supplies the accurate measurement signal your software needs. As a result, you can concentrate on analysing the response and making practical adjustments rather than managing extra interfaces, power supplies, and analogue connections.
