Capture sound with greater focus
The LA-212 uses a supercardioid polar pattern to concentrate sound capture around the front of the microphone while reducing noise arriving off-axis. This focused pickup gives you more control over what the microphone captures, helping you concentrate on your intended source. The polar pattern shown in the manual demonstrates this directional response at 1kHz. That makes positioning important, but also gives you a clear way to manage surrounding sound through microphone placement. Simply point the LA-212 towards the source you want to capture and take advantage of its focused response.
Pick up finer detail
At the centre of the LA-212 is a precision 18mm large-diaphragm condenser capsule. It's designed for high sensitivity and low self-noise, helping you capture quieter details without introducing unnecessary microphone noise. Sensitivity is rated at -35dB±3dB at 1kHz, giving you a clear indication of the microphone's response to incoming sound. Combined with the focused supercardioid pattern, the capsule provides a useful balance of sensitive capture and directional control — particularly when you want the microphone to concentrate on the sound directly in front of it.
Cover a wide frequency range
A 30Hz–20kHz frequency response gives the LA-212 broad coverage across low, middle, and high frequencies. The microphone is also designed with a wide dynamic range, helping it accommodate changing levels within the sound you're capturing. Its frequency response graph shows how the microphone responds across this range, including variations through the upper frequencies. Alongside an output impedance of 200Ω±30% at 1kHz, these specifications give you the practical information needed when integrating the LA-212 into your recording setup.
Set up straight away
The LA-212 comes with a desktop stand and XLR cable, giving you the essentials to get connected and position the microphone at your desk. The stand provides a convenient setup for desktop recording, while the supplied cable lets you connect the microphone to compatible XLR equipment without needing to source one separately. It's a practical combination for getting your recording setup ready with fewer additional accessories required.
