Key Features
The Steinberg Iconica Sketch is a compact orchestral library for composers to quickly create cinematic and modern productions in a streamlined instrument. Its 4.6 GB footprint brings together 34 orchestral instruments and 140 short and long articulations, giving you plenty of scope for detailed arrangements without a large library or demanding CPU requirements. Based on the original Orchestral Tools recordings used for Iconica, the samples have been carefully selected, remastered, and given a new mix tailored to modern scoring and pop production.
Adaptive True Legato responds to your playing speed for more natural transitions, with true release samples providing further control over legato performances. You can also customise articulation keyswitches around your MIDI controller and workflow, while the Dynamics view provides real-time feedback on the dynamic range you're playing in. Cubase users can access automatic expression maps, making instrument character and articulation changes easier to manage within an arrangement.

Iconica Sketch puts a complete orchestra into a compact 4.6 GB library, with 34 instruments covering sections ranging from violins to percussion. The streamlined size is paired with enhanced CPU performance and fast loading, making it practical when you want orchestral sounds ready without placing unnecessary demands on your system. Its source material comes from the detailed Orchestral Tools recordings created for Iconica, carefully selected and remastered here. A newly created mix shapes those recordings towards modern cinematic scoring and contemporary pop production, giving you an orchestral palette designed to sit naturally within current arrangements.
With 140 short and long articulations, Iconica Sketch gives you the tools to add movement, contrast, and detail across an orchestral arrangement. Common articulations are available for each instrument, covering expressive legatos alongside more immediate sounds such as staccatos. Switching is straightforward: select articulations with a click or trigger them using keyswitches while you play. Better still, those keyswitches can be personalised to suit your preferred layout or MIDI controller. This means you can organise articulation control around the way you actually work, rather than adapting your performance to a fixed mapping.
Adaptive True Legato is designed to respond directly to your performance. The system intelligently adjusts according to your playing speed, helping legato transitions remain smooth and expressive as your phrasing changes. True release samples provide another level of control within the legato articulations, letting you further shape how notes finish. And when you're working across different orchestral dynamics, the dedicated Dynamics view gives you immediate real-time feedback on the range an instrument is currently playing in. Together, these features make it easier to monitor and control expressive details while concentrating on the musical performance itself.
