The Warm Audio Sound Techniques Stereo Jude Microphone Preamp is a dual-channel studio preamp for engineers recording stereo sources with authentic vintage console character. Created through an official collaboration between Warm Audio and Sound Techniques, it features the original A-Range console microphone preamp circuit used in the first custom consoles at London's legendary Trident Studios.

The Stereo Jude recreates the original Sound Techniques A-Range microphone preamp circuit across two fully independent channels. Developed directly with Sound Techniques, it follows the original console schematics created by Geoff Frost instead of recreating the sound through modern interpretation.
This is the same preamp design that became part of landmark recordings by artists including The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John, Queen and Paul McCartney. Recording stereo sources through matching channels helps maintain consistent imaging while retaining the character associated with the original A-Range design.
Each channel features the original nine-position Z-Match impedance control derived directly from the historic Sound Techniques consoles. Rather than offering a fixed microphone input, the proprietary impedance matching circuit changes how your microphone interacts with the preamp.
Small adjustments influence gain, frequency response and overall tonal character, allowing you to explore fresh sounds using microphones you already own. Dynamic, ribbon and condenser microphones each respond differently, making Stereo Jude a flexible recording tool across many applications. Stereo pairs also benefit from identical impedance controls on both channels, making it easy to achieve balanced recordings while experimenting with different tonal settings.
Sound Techniques specified every major element of the Stereo Jude to preserve the performance of the original consoles. Each unit combines custom-wound CineMag input transformers with high-purity nickel CineMag output transformers alongside premium Wima and Nichicon audio-grade capacitors and carbon resistors.
These components are assembled using a carefully hand-wired PCB layout designed to maintain the integrity of the original circuit. The aluminium faceplate, durable steel chassis and dedicated VU meters create a robust recording tool designed for regular studio use.
